For millennia, humans have gazed at the magnificent night sky with wonder and awe. This was the inspiration for That Place in the Stars, a monumental and graceful sculpture by the artist, Christopher Curtis.

During April and May, 2022 Curtis personally transported That Place in the Stars on a first-time large public sculpture tour making several stops along the route from New England to Oklahoma. The sculpture was on view for free at several unique public venues in Vermont, New York, Ohio, Missouri and Oklahoma.

For 2 years, Curtis and a Tulsa, Oklahoma arts patron collaborated on this large scale sculpture that Curtis transported 1,500 miles from Stowe, Vermont (the artist's hometown) to Oklahoma's Philbrook Museum for an exhibit before its permanent installation at the collector's Tulsa home.

The tour was a brainstorm by Curtis as a way to bring his art to viewers along the transport route from New England to its final destination in Oklahoma. His goal was to provide exposure to free public art in non-traditional spaces. His aim was to attract atypical art viewers while uplifting their spirits and bringing hope to the world during these troubling times.
